Can booze be a cure for snoring? Absolutely not. I'll explain why.
Some people may think that alcohol can have a positive effect in treating snoring. Yeah, I can understand it as the feeling of pleasant warmth and comfort in the throat after a sip makes them think this way. But it's just an illusion. Booze can never be a cure for snoring as it works just the other way around. It makes gullet muscles relaxed and, thus, provokes snoring and sleep apnea.
Scientists say that the liver can process 10-15 ml of pure alcohol an hour. Hence it is possible to determine the amount of booze that you can drink before sleep without any notable consequences on your breathing during the sleep. A fifth of vodka contains 40 ml of pure alchohol so the negative effect of this doze lasts about 4 hours. Didn't you notice that the most loud snorers are alcohol abusers?
Once again, booze can never be a cure for snoring. First ask yourself how much you take in. I don't say that you should turn into a total abstainer but if you want to turn your snore-volume down be more careful with booze. I quite often enjoy a sip of Johny Walker myself. But just a sip. Drink with measure - sleep with pleasure is my motto.
